Northside’s Outpatient Counseling Services are available to those with Medicaid, Medicare, or other insurances. Other Outpatient Services are available on a countywide basis and when clients meet the criteria for program services. Services are available to those who live in Hillsborough County and the Sun Coast Region.
All Outpatient services provided at the Main Center begin with an intake assessment provided by a qualified therapist who completes a biopsychosocial evaluation and makes necessary recommendations and referrals for care and treatment options. These services are provided via a preregistered Access to Care appointment. Our Access to Care appointments are available at the Main Center Monday thru Thursday. Please call our office and select Option 3 to schedule your initial appointment.
Northside will not deny access to services due to inability to pay; and there is a discounted/sliding fee schedule available.
Adult Outpatient Counseling Services
We offer therapeutic services including assessment, individual, group, and family therapy. Therapists help people make changes in their lives in order to get well and have a greater sense of well being. This is achieved by developing a therapeutic relationship, talking about problematic thoughts and behaviors, and implementing a plan to overcome these. We provide brief solution-focused therapy.
You may be seen for 6-8 therapy sessions. The need for further therapy will be evaluated at that time. You can expect to be seen weekly or every other week.
In addition to therapy, it may be recommended that you see a psychiatrist or nurse practitioner for a psychiatric evaluation. This will determine whether medication may be indicated to help you decrease your symptoms and achieve your goals for treatment.
Children’s Outpatient Services
Provides individual/family/group psychotherapy in an outpatient office setting to children age 17 and younger and their families. The program also services children and adolescents who have survived abuse/neglect or are in foster care and children with sexual behavior problems. Therapy focuses on crisis stabilization, alleviating troubling symptoms, enhancing quality of life, coping with life’s stresses, addressing children’s developmental and emotional needs.
Medication Case Management
This consists of meeting with a medication case manager at least every six months for the purpose of treatment planning and possible linkage to community resources. In addition, you will see a psychiatrist or nurse practitioner for ongoing medication management. This is appropriate for someone who does not need therapy, is not able to commit to therapy, or who is not interested in therapy.
